The Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta is an extension of the eight seminaries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (Southern, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, Chicago, Trinity, Wartburg, Luther and Pacific), and works with three Atlanta theological schools to offer courses in a diverse ecumenical environment and theological reflection on urban and cross-cultural issues. The three seminaries are Candler School of Theology at Emory University (United Methodist), Columbia Theological Seminary (Presbyterian Church USA), and the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC, a consortium of theological schools of several traditionally African-American denominations). Located on the ITC campus, LTCA provides an excellent, intentionally focused educational program for Lutheran seminarians, especially African-American candidates for ministry.
Major funding for the Atlanta Center comes from its eight supporting seminaries, and contributions from the ELCA, the Southeastern Synod, and Lutherans in the greater Atlanta area.
